Futon covers

Yes, it possible to buy inexpensive futon covers.
I am a futon person.
I love how futons are so versatile,
take up less space than regular couches,
are both lighter to move  and cost much less compared to a sleeper sofa.
Last week, on my second hand shopping trip, I found

2 white fitted sheets for $1.50 each.
Both were for a full size bed,
which is the size of most futon you'll find on the market.
For only $3 total, I decided to bring those home and use it as futon covers for two futons we have.
This particular futon is in our basement.

And this one is in our school room.

Using sheets as covers is very practical and inexpensive.
I don't know why I didn't think of this before.
yes, I did ended up ironing the sheet after I took this picture

The fitted sheets are perfect for brightening up the space, easy to put on, and super easy to wash.
So, for $3 I now have 2 covers for the futons.
...and I am a happy camper.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

I had a futon in my sunroom years ago and used a fitted sheet on it. There was no way I could have lifted a futon alone and pulled a complete cover over it. This is so easy to change, launder and decorate with fitted sheets in addition that they cost less.

Great job Dani! It looks so neat and bright now :) I just made a slipcover today for a sort of futon-like couch, but it covers the wood and all - that's how my client wanted it!

Dearest Daniela,
That is a great idea and very practical. You did not figure this out too late; still lots of use for the coming years.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
