Ikea dresser turned into kitchen recycle/trash cart

We had an Ikea dresser was ready for a total makeover.
This is not a dresser anymore.
You can't even imagine how excited I am.
I have been wanting to do something like this for several months already.
And finally I did it.
My little one loves to pull stuff out the recycling bin, so I HAD to do something about it.
I wanted to built one myself,
then I found a beautiful dresser on Craigslist that ended up in the girls bedroom.
That left me with two spare ones that we got at Ikea few years back for $20.
The dresser was originally unfinished pine, and I painted it white back then.
So this is what I did.
I took the

drawers out
(and I am going to use them for something else...of course)
and cut any "extra" pieces of wood,

so that all I have left is the frame with a big opening.
I then cut to size a scrap piece of wood to go at the bottom of the frame.
I also drilled four holes large just enough for the 4 casters.

If you notice in the last picture below, I used four rubber bands from the inside to make sure the casters don't fall out
(which they shouldn't, but...)
Then I used this potato sack that I found in my parents garage while I was in Italy,
and sewn the top to make a little curtain.
Behind the curtain...

And here it is.
I love this already.

I spent $0 on this project
dressed to repurpose (already had)
four casters (unused from a free plastic cart)
curtain rod (had already)
Italian potato sack (free)
wood for the base (free scrap wood)

If you have a piece of furniture to repurpose
and even if you had to buy some of the above materials,
you would still be able to make this for very little.

Stay Frugal,

Dearest Daniela,
Great idea for using all the materials you had already. This will come in handy in many ways.

Wonders never cease. This is a beautiful makeover. Love the rustic touches from the potato sack too. And even more special since it came from home. :-)
