Recycling and Coffee Station Combo

This is a project that anyone could do in those occasion when you are limited in space,
or when you just want to be efficient in using the square feet your house has to offer.

If you remember, right before Thanksgiving,
I tackled this coffee station project.

I initially used the bottom part of the table to store my 45lb pail of hard wheat,
and several pounds of dried beans.
(as a long distance runner,
I eat plenty of both.
I love my carbs, vegetable proteins and iron)

One thing though was not working out very well in our kitchen,
and that was our recycling bins situation.
We recycle pretty much

everything.
We also compost most of our wet,
organic trash.
So there is very little that actually ends up in our "regular" trash can.
We have about 1 grocery bag of trash per week, total for our family of 5.
Not bad at all.

But I digress.

I finally painted the table part of the coffee station.

Same color as the one I used for our kitchen cabinets a few years ago.

The paint was leftover from back then...
so no money spent there either.

I sew the dropcloth curtain at the bottom,
and placed the recycling bins under there.

It could have not fit more perfectly.

And it is super convenient to have those bins in the actual kitchen, since we use them all the times.

I am super glad how this combo turned out.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

Dearest Daniela,
Yes, you solved that problem in a very smart way!
The bins are usually an eye sore but you hid them perfectly behind the curtain. Guess, the curtain slides to the side easily for quick reach.
Compliments for your healthy way of living, thinking and recycling at your home. For sure your children live by example and who knows the ripple effect of such a lifestyle?
Hugs,
Mariette

Love this! Mi piace molto l'idea della raccolta differenziata ma mi piace un sacco the 45lb pail of hard wheat! :-))) ciao cara

That looks like a great way to store them! You are good to be recycling as much as you do. I can't get over how little trash you have. We recycle big items like milk jugs, boxes etc. We have a recycle can outside for it and then we take it to the curb to be picked up once a week.

Well done!
Three Cheers with your recycling!! We also recycle. We are really happy with how well we are doing with it.
Have a great week,
Carla

I should say, we are in our second year of recycling. We have bins set out. It is working well.
My goal is to get a better system on our food compost this summer.
