You know it's a good day for me,
when I get the chance to go outside and work on a few wooden projects!
I absolutely love to build and create useful and cute things...understanding that both useful and cute are very personal statements.
This time I wanted to build a wooden trivet, perfect size for a pot or pan.
As usual, I got searching in my scrap wood pile for wooden scraps of similar thickness.
I glued the top planks to the bottom "feet", then used finishing nails to make it stronger.

I printed out a fleur-de-lis,
and cut it out with an exact knife.
For this project I used a high heat spray paint (same that I used when I made this larger trivet/centerpiece)
Remember that sanding the edges is very important to prevent splinters,
and to give it a "rustic feel", distress more on top.
I distressed mainly the edges on the other two...can always do more.

I think they'd look awesome in a two toned color scheme as well - but seeing the natural wood underneath really is lovely.
