Tilapia dinner for 5 people in 15 minutes for $5

We all know that fish is good for us.
Some people didn't grow up eating it,
some don't like the "fishy" taste.
Good news, not all fish tastes fishy.
Tilapia has a very mild and delicate taste, and is cheaper than most fish
(I get mine for $3lb).
Here is how to make a super easy
tilapia dinner for
5 people in 15 minutes for $5 total.
Steam a bag of baby carrots. I do it on the stove. Cook for 15 minutes.
While the carrots cook,
put 5 medium potatoes in the microwave on high (use a fork to poke few holes in it).
Cook 5 minutes, then rotate and cook 5 more minutes.
While the veggies cook,
drizzle some olive oil in your nonstick pan,
add frozen tilapia,
cover and let it cook for 3 minutes on medium high.
Flip the fish over,
add steak seasoning, put lid back on and cook 3-4 more minutes on medium low
(do not overcook fish, 7 minutes are plenty).
I put a little salt and olive oil on the steamed carrots. Salt, butter and sour cream on the baked potato.
And this is the complete meal.

Total cost breakdown
Frozen Tilapia 5 pieces $4 (I buy mine for about $3lb)
1lb bag of fresh baby carrots .50c
5 medium potatoes .50c ($1.99 for a 10lb bag)
***I bought produce and fish at Aldi***

So here you have a fresh, healthy and delicious meal for $1 per person.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela
ps. my 3 children, ages 4 and under, inhale this meal.

I am ashamed to say I hardly ever eat fish because I don't like the fishy taste. I will look for this and try it. If I don't like it -well....I know where to find you!!! xo Diana

We love fish! It is actually best to eat it at least twice a week (I've heard). Although, we don't eat enough of it. We've had tilapia before and it is good. Looks like a good meal and budget friendly. There are some fish that can set you back a pretty penny.

I love tilapia! I've never tried it with steak seasoning, but I bet that gives it a great flavor.
