Puff pastry can be quite labor
intensive.
All the folding and resting time in between.
This puff pastry is the EASIEST puff pastry that you will ever find.
I make this plenty of times around the Holidays.
I make this plenty of times around the Holidays.
No folding.
Make it in under 5 minutes,
and refrigerate overnight.
That's all.
I know this recipe by heart.
Ingredients
250gr butter (=2 sticks+2T) cubed
230gr
(=2cups) unbleached flour
2.5 ml (=1/2 tsp) Cream of Tartar
125
ml (=1/2cup) boiling water
pinch of salt (if using salted butter,
omit this)
Mix flour, salt and Cream of
Tartar.
Allow butter to melt, but it must still be somewhat "lumpy".
Add butter mixture to flour mixture and
mix well, but don't over mixing.
Put in fridge at least
overnight.
When needed, roll out on a floured surface and then use
as indicated on your own recipe.
At 2700 calories for the entire recipe,
this might "scare" some of you...
So if you eat HALF of the apple tart, it will still be far less caloric than 1 slice of pecan pie (500 calories per slice).
I have also used this to make a
caprese appetizer,
cheese straws,
you name it.

I love puff pastry and all the great desserts you can make with it. We always buy ready-made, but you make it seem so easy! Thanks for the recipe. And all your creations look scrumptious (especially the apple tarts!

The apple tart looks wonderful, but I don't trust my baking skills to make puff pastry.
I find puff pastry intimidating...don't know why, but maybe if I make my own, it won't seem so. That apple tart looks divine! Who counts calories during the holiday???
Wow, never thought about making it myself. I love puff pastry at holiday time. We usually have salmon wellingtons over the holiday so I am going to love making this.
haha, I just posted about pecan pie today. :) This looks very yummy!
I've never seen puff pastry from a recipe! This is great, the frozen stuff I just bought at the store was $5 for 2 sheets. I hope mine turns out as well as yours did!
