Pasta with Panna

This is one of my favorite pasta dishes.
I have many...

This is one of those meals that literally takes me 20 minutes to prepare, cook and serve.

The ingredients are simple and can be
exchanged easily

3 slices of ham (prosciutto can be used)
2 cups of peas (cubed zucchini works as well)
1/4 of an onion
1 container of Panna (or 6oz of cream cheese)
First of all get two tall pots.
One filled with water for cooking the pasta.
In the other pot, drizzle a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and lightly brown the onion, ham and peas. Let them cook on medium-low for about 5-10 minutes.

Add a little water if needed.
When the vegetables and ham are cooked, add the panna.

When the pasta is cooked, add to the panna-vegetables mixture.
And dinner is served.
Italian panna is a cooking cream (not sweet).
It taste like cream cheese with the consistency of sour cream.
If I can't find the panna, I just use 2/3 of a cream cheese package and add a little milk to make it "creamier".

Just add the cubed cream cheese with the hot ingredients, let it melt and add a little milk until you have the sour cream look.
Easy and delicious.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

Dearest Daniela,
That is simple and delicious. Maria from Ristorante da Maria makes yummy pastas too, as starter.
One could probably use pancetta for this as well. Trader Joe's sells it.
We just ate your recipe with the fresh made pasta sauce again. I made a huge portion of pasta sauce. That freezes well and comes in handy when busy in the garden or whatever.
Thanks for your generous sharing!
Hugs and happy weekend.
