The table is set for dinner.
As usual I kept things casual and comfortable.
I want my guest to feel special and welcomed.
I want them to feel at home.
This time I used my
Porcelain rectangular plates.
It was a wedding gift from a special lady whom I worked for a little time while I was in High School.
She has a Restaurant called "Antico Giardino" near Ferrara, Italy.
(where I was born and raised)
Other things that I used:
the large wooden trivet I made a while back,
a few metal pieces
(the egg basket is holding some homemade bread, kept warm by a kitchen towel),
and one set of napkins that I also made.
The tablecloth is dropcloth with plastic backing...I purposely made it 3" shorter on each side, in a way that only drapes over the table on the two long sides.
The plastic baking is a life saver when children spill liquids over it.
So childproof for sure.
Now waiting for our guests to arrive.

Once again, I have to just say, "Lucky guests!" I'm going to go set my own table and eat, but I don't think it will feel quite so special. For starters I won't have bread in a cool basket covered with a towel. Love your Paris napkins and those plates too!

I think that table setting is very exotic. Peanut butter and jelly would be wonderful served at that table!

You have done so many clever things on that table. The tablecloth with the plastic backing is genius with children around and I adore the napkins that you made. The plates from Italy are wonderful and your comment about the restaurant has make me more determined to return to Italy, as soon as possible. My new son-in-law's brother owns a restaurant near Florence and I think I need it visit it, don't you?

Your table looks so inviting! I've seen restaurant tables (not talking Friendly's here) that aren't nearly as nicely done, nor with that ambiance. I'm sure your guests all feel loved and appreciated.

Very inviting, just add guests and food! I now have a barnwood table and am thinking I need to start using table cloths more ofen to keep the crumbs out of the cracks!
