This coffee filters initial was started several months ago...yep!
It is really not a difficult project, but I needed to gather my main material...used coffee filters!
Ok, stay with me.
This is what the coffee filter looks like before using it.
And this is what the used coffee filter looks like after being used (and left drying with the coffee grinds in it)
See the difference?
I wanted the coffee stained look.
The process is really simple.
1- make your coffee every morning
2- get the filter out and leave the coffee grinds in it until it completely dries (a day or two)
3- when dry, dump the coffee grinds (I use those to nourish our veggie garden)
4- lay the filter flat and keep adding to the stash
5- when you have enough (60 or more, depending on the size of your letter), use it to make your initial.
I drew the letter N on a piece of cardboard,
cut it
At this point, fold the coffee filters this way
and then I used my glue gun to attach the filters to the cardboard N
You will not be able to see the cardboard when finished!
Glue right next to each other.
I hung our letter on the living room wall...but that is for another post...will share when the wall is completed!

This was super duper cute! I could tell you a secret...you could have used tea bags too, and boiled and dipped them in there as well. I have done that with paper, and it turns out the same:) I love this project. Needs a pin!

That is the neatest craft project! I've never seen it done before using stained coffee filters. Great idea! I can't wait to see the finished product! Btw, your tutorial was very clear. You do a good job showing all of the steps clearly. That's good for the craft challenged people like me!

This is really cute - another way you can get the same look is just boil some tea and "dye" the filters in it. Love the look.....
