Most times the decor in our home is very simple...
original window frame from our Italian farm house, built by my great grandfather |
but ALL the times, the decor is very inexpensive.
books wrapped in brown paper and cotton twine and vinegar stain aged clothes pins (in 3 minutes, project HERE) |
Most time free and/or handmade.
free pallet frame I built (HERE) |
I haven't been able to keep up with the blog the last several months.
But that does not means that I haven't been doing things.
Beside working on the house,
the garage transformation into a rec room (remember that?),
getting the 2 veggie garden areas prepared for Spring planting,
homeschooling the children,
feeding family and friends (my parents came from Italy to visit us pretty much the entire month of March)
...
I am also currently at week 13 (of 16 weeks) of my Spring Marathon Training.
This year I am doing an advance training plan,
which means I have ran about 550 miles in the last 3 months.
That has meant running 6 days a week (averaging 35 to 55 miles weekly),
early, early morning runs and early bedtime.
The blog has taken the backseat BIG time.
Here are some updated pictures of the kitchen and sunroom.
vintage olive jars and ceramic garlic/onions keeper |
Most of the things were very inexpensive finds,
Italian farm family decor,
and things that I built myself.
wine glasses' rack (project HERE) |
Needless to say,
It has been a BUSY year so far.
Looking forward to get back to "normal" life after my 26.2 miles race at the end of April.
...or maybe this has now become my new normal.
And I am ok with that.
Stay Frugal,
Daniela
Good luck with the marathon. I love the Italian Farmhouse style.

Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteOh my, you really ROCK!
Having had your Parents over for the month of March is already a huge job; I know how that goes in the way of spoiling them and showing them around.
But your marathon is quite a commitment and I admire you for that.
Your home looks so beautiful and I love all the natural colors of natural materials.
What a special thing to have your great-grandfather's hand made window frame on the wall!
Sending you hugs and blessings,
Mariette
Love your style and loved the photos!!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with the marathon. Inexpensive and reinvented is the best. I empathize. I'm so busy here. I'm using Instagram with usually just one photo a day, at least recently anyway. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all of the changes you've made to your home. I love all of the natural wood pieces you're using and those books wrapped in brown paper are the perfect compliment too. I really like that unique black "gears" clock on your brick wall. That's a cool piece! Good luck with your marathon this month. You are in the BEST shape to run as much as you do and to keep such a busy schedule. I'm tired just reading about it! I'm just happy to make it to the gym a few days a week. Ha!
ReplyDeleteAnother marathon? I can't keep up...how many is this? I'm sure you've run at least one, right? Best of luck to you. I'd love to do another one but I can't seem to find my inner discipline. =D I'm loving all your homemade touches around the house. :)

Love all your budget minded decor items but the window frame from Italy is a favorite. I love it.
