I like both coffee and hot teas.
Not so, not so.
But I had been thinking about having one in our home for quite a while.
Our kitchen has a limited space,
But I finally came up with an idea...
the day before Thanksgiving.
Because you know,
when creativity strikes,
then you must act...immediately.
So I moved the microwave station to the side of the fridge,
took the pantry door down (to make room for microwave cart thingy),
sewn a curtain to replace the door,
disassembled a sewing machine table,
attach pallet slats,
and make the kitchen into a living space once again.
It took me less than 4 hours from start to finish.

And that's good, because that's all I had.
Husband was coming home from work
and 20 something people where showing up the next day (Thanksgiving) for a yummy meal.
For this project I didn't spend any money.
I had everything on hand.
The old sewing table was free.
One of our neighbor put it up the streets months ago.
I didn't know what I was going to do with it,
until last week.
Pallet was free.
The top wooden part was also free.
You might remember when I posted about it, over a year ago.
It sat in our garage until now.
The pull was part of a pack of 10 that I had bought for this other project.
I am also going to paint the bottom part with he same paint I used on the kitchen cabinets.
I have leftovers, so I am going to do that soon.
Honestly, every person that has been in our house since last week,
has commented on it.
Remember, I am Italian.
I am really excited about this project.
Honestly, I had not in mind to use the sewing machine table for my project.
I needed something longer and maybe skinnier.
But I didn't want to spend any money,
so I got thinking about what I could use in that space.
I tried a couple different options,
but as you can see,
this small table worked out perfectly,
and I could not be happier with the result.
Stay Frugal,
Daniela
Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteWOW and again WOW, this is genial. And so practical for its purpose.
Will share this with my sister on FB as she has also very limited counter space in her kitchen and there is an arch where she is planning to put a Coffee Station as well. This might work for her. Thank you so much for sharing your clever findings. Frugal is a must for my sis and also for us. We always look at what we already got and make do with that.
Happy weekend and stay cozy in your lovely home.
Would love to stop by for a cuppa... and one day we might just do that!
Hugs,
Mariette
I am totally impressed! Not only with the fab result but with the fact that you did it in 4 hours the day before Thanksgiving! Kudos! I hope you enjoy it. xoKathleen
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so nice! I love the cubby thing above it. So cute and handy! Using material to make a skirt underneath was another good idea. I know you will enjoy this station for years to come.
ReplyDeleteHi Dani,
ReplyDeleteSo cute and love what you did to re love that table into a coffee bar. So clever and awesome.

Dani,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fantastic project! You really outdid yourself. I've been toying with the idea of a tea and coffee station too, but just didn't know how I want to place it in my space. Now, I'm curious about two things: How are you using the storage space underneath the table? and What did you create the tea organizer with? I love the total look!
Bellissima Daniela! E poi senza spendere niente.... Meglio di così non si può! Brava! Cari saluti e buona domenica.
ReplyDeletePerfect! You rock girl.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle. I am like you, when I have an idea, boom it is going to happen now. :-)) I have done that many times too, especially when it comes to changing up and decorating.
Love it, thank you for sharing.
Carla
The table works perfectly here and I also love the shelves ou use above the table to keep tea, coffee and everything you need to have a good cuppa!
