Creative Inexpensive Frame(s)

I am always excited when I can use something that was either free or practically free.
Today I turned this old window into a frame display for my map.

The window is original to our home.

It is one of two windows that were taken down when we turned them into doors to access

the sunroom and the deck.

You might remember when I showed you this map a while back.

This is a copy of a Medieval map of my hometown.
I just pinned the map to the back of the window fame.
I am still working on the rest of the brick wall.
I will show you soon what I did.

Another free frame idea is a pallet frame that I made over a year ago for this Italy map.

I still love it.

Stay Frugal,

  1. Dearest Daniela,
Always lovely to manage things by 'thinking' of new purposes! You are gifted in that way and this again looks very special.
Enjoy it and have a great week ahead; hope the rain stops, today we had to turn the lights on around 2:30 PM due to heavy thunderstorms + rain...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  4. Oh- That is a sweet idea. I LOVE Old windows! I used to paint the backs of them black and nail them to buildings so that it would look like there was a real window into the building-then put window boxes under them. That makes a great frame for a map- xo Diana

  5. I love the idea. A friend of mine is going to change her windows and I asked her to keep her small ones for me!

  8. What a great use of an old frame. I see a lot of those when out thrift shopping and I'm tempted to purchase, but I know it doesn't go with my style at home. Even still, I always thought they would make beautiful decor. I like what you did with the map.

    I'm with Marissa...you need a magazine! (or at least a column). :-D
