Olive Jars (new life)

While I was in Southern Italy, I did a little shopping in my family's garage.

There was so much stuff that I wanted to bring back with me, but I had to pick few things and hope it all would fit in the suitcases.
(I still have more...I am a good packer. LOL)
This particular garage is a "farm garage",
so it was full with rusted farm tools, glass containers, old and big

industrial scale, wooden handmade ladders and more.
A lot of those are still in use today.
The olive farm is located in southern Italy, where my dad grew up.
Of course I had to bring back a couple of jars that were used to hold olives.
As you can see, those jars are not "usable" anymore for that purpose, but I wanted to bring a couple back for decoration.
I filled one with my aged clothes pins
(that I made here),
and one with corks.
A little bit of Italy in the US.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

  1. Those jars will come in handy, I'm sure! Now you're making good use of them instead of them just sitting in the garage. Don't you wish you could've brought that huge ladder home with you too? LOL!

  8. What a wonderful piece of Italy to bring back home with you. And, how beautiful that it was actually used at the olive farm your dad grew up on. I love their repurposed life.

  11. You know, shopping in other people's things is fun. I love thrift shopping, but it's even better when you know the story behind the item. And you can, when it's from your family. Great finds!

p.s. I've been doing a little bit of backyard shopping at my mom's. :-)

  13. Dearest Daniela,
That is probably the most painful of all facts that we always face this penalty of not being able to carry it home with us. But paying for an additional suitcase still is way cheaper than having to send it by mail!
Enjoy your newest treasures as it also has such sentimental meaning to you.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
