What to do with a Wine Box

For some reasons,
I like wooden boxes...

in fact, when I find one,
I just can't turn it away
(especially if it's free).

So when I found this in my parent's garage, I had to take it back with me.
Yes, I still have more stuff that I brought back in our suitcases.
I almost feel like Mary Poppins...taking stuff and more stuff out of her bag.
Anyway,
this box held (at some point) a collection of dessert wine, what we call spumante.
I have decided to use my
Yes, this is still from the one and only batch I have made so far.
It goes a long way, costs practically nothing, and it's good for people and our environment.
This vinegar stain, really ages the wood beautifully.

I am finishing the wine box as I write.

What would you do with this wine box?
Please share your ideas.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

  2. Dearest Daniela,
You are such a clever lady and when you spot something; you always envision the transformation to something incredible!
What would I do with this wine box. I have no idea since I don't know how it looks from the inside and what its dimensions are.
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette

  3. How beautiful. I can't believe you fit that in your suitcase. You must be a very impressive packer :). I can't wait to see what you do with it. I am sure it will be better than anything I could think of.

  4. How about for storage of books, magazines or boots? It would depend on the size but I love the detailed joinery at the corners and the ageing looks authentic.

  5. I love old boxes like that too. Yours looks great with the way you aged it! Gosh, it could be used for just about anything! Since you now have a boy, you could use it for small toys like cars or legos when he gets a bit older. I love seeing toys stored in stylish containers.

  6. I love the way you've made the wood look aged! I have a thing for boxes too, and mason jars. What would I do with it? Depending on its size, perhaps attach some legs and make it into a nice side table?

  7. What a great find, I would have brought it home too. If I had it I would store fabric and sewing supplies in it.

  8. I have a "thing" for boxes, too - all kinds, all sizes! I try to fill them with things and make them function, but I have to admit, some of them are empty. Note to self: organize stuff in empty boxes...

  10. Ohhh I love your wine box! You know I have the same love of boxes too! And I finally used my first and only batch of easy and natural vinegar stain, I need to make some more. What would I use it for? I think I would use it for books or magazines. If you check out library books for your kids it would be a good place to keep them. I like to have a special library book spot and then they don't get lost!

  12. I would be included to make it a planter for herbs or pretty flowers. Now I'm curious. Just how did you manage to get this and the scale on the plane?
