Easy and Inexpensive Canopy

Hula hoops are fun...
if you know how to hula...
For my daughter birthday party (last year),
we bought a bunch of hula hoops from the $tree, and as usual we bought more than we needed...just because.
So I needeed to figure out what to do with it
(beside hula like crazy in our backyard!).
Since I have been working on a different room for our girls, I decided to make two canopies for their new twin beds I made.
I used

2 hula hops ($1 each)
4 sheer draperies (that I had bought for their previous room)
cord
metallic spray paint
2 white hooks (.75c for a pack of 6)

Here we go.

Spray paint the hula hoops. I had on hand a can of metallic paint, so that's what I used.
Let it dry well.

Then cut on opening and slide 2 sheer curtains before you tape it back up.
I used good ole duck tape (it blends in with the metallic paint)

Attach the cord to the hula hoop and hang from a hook on the ceiling (centered to the bed below)
The girls absolutely LOVE it.

I think it's pretty cool...
and super inexpensive.
(and could be an outdoor project too)

  8. This is an awesome idea! I will HAVE to do this for my daughter's room when she gets a bit older. I've always liked canopies like this, and I had no idea it'd be so easy to accomplish...and for that price. It looks beautiful.

    XOXO,
