I love honey...for many reasons.
I buy locally grown, organic, raw honey.

This
is because the local bees are consuming foods from the area
you live in.
This is beneficial as they contain immune stimulating properties needed for your body to adapt to
its environment.
That's why local honey is a great cure for people with seasonal allergies.

There are
far more benefits of honey than I can include here, but I chose some benefits that you may not know about.
So read on.
Raw honey can provide an energy boost.
Its
carbohydrates supply energy and can boost endurance and reduce muscle fatigue.

No honey, in any form, should be given to babies younger than one.
Honey
contains a natural presence of botulinum, therefore,
children under one year of age should not be given honey. Before the age
of twelve months, a child’s intestinal tract is not mature enough
to inhibit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, which is often found
in honey.

Thanks for the list. I knew about local honey and the natural immune support, but I did not know about it helping with cholesterol. I think I should try sweetening my tea with it as a good way to get more in me.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
KC
You reminded me that I need to buy some honey as we ran out! I always buy local too, not just because of it's benefits but because it tastes better too :) I've heard that it also helps with allergies, especially to pollen.
ReplyDeleteI use local honey as well, I even put it on scratches, burns, and cuts. It really does heal things better than the expensive medications. One note, here in the US we are told not to give honey to children under 2, so if you have young children you may want to investigate further.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to start eating more honey then! I've got some in my cabinet that was locally grown here in GA about 1 1/2 hrs from my house. Jimmy's cousin keeps bees and sells the honey they produce. Thanks for the good tips!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy local honey too, but we don't eat a lot of it, usually just me. I've wondered how much you have to consume to get the benefit for allergies.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do buy locally. We have a little roadside stand not too far from here, so I load up when he is open. It really is good for you and such a natural sweetener. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
