Glass Jars holder

Most times I am stuck by inspiration in the least convenient moments.
That's not always a bad things...
but can be at times.
I am also one of those people that has to get things done
...now!
So I decided to make a simple glass jars holder.

The wood I had was already a

Dropcloth Napkins Placemats

A few months back I happened to buy a dropcloth that had more imperfections than I wanted.
I actually think that the imperfection give it a "rustic" feel.

That said, I didn't want to make something to sell with this material.
Given that dropcloth is a fairly inexpensive fabric,
and that this was a 100% cotton fabric,
I decide to use it to make some extra large

Thanksgiving/Fall centerpiece

One thing I know for sure is that I love reclaimed wood.
It's so pretty, not just for the color variations, but also for the natural imperfection it has.
I call it natural beauty.
This morning I was in the mood to build something.
We just recently decided to stay in town for Thanksgiving, so I wanted to build something for our table.
This centerpiece is very large.

The table is set

The table is set for dinner.
As usual I kept things casual and comfortable.
I want my guest to feel special and welcomed.
I want them to feel at home.
This time I used my

Styrofoam balls

How about a Christmas project on a budget?
Nice things don't necessarily have to be expensive, and on a budget does not necessarily mean cheap.
I started out with 4 styrofoam balls...find those at any craft and $ stores.
I found some nice ribbon I kept from years past. This ribbon is pliable, since it has two metal lines.
Here is what I made with $2

The "dote"...receiving gifts

The dote is an Italian tradition.
(and maybe used to be a tradition here too)
The family of a young woman prepares the dote for their girl(s) for when she will get married.
Since I was young, I had my mom and grandmother stashing away anything from towels, sheets, and everything in between.
Crazy huh?
And btw...they pick it for you.
I love that, because to me receiving a gift is not just getting something I want or like, but literally it is receiving the kindness and the thought that someone put in picking something just for you.
It makes a gift extra special, from those people that are far away or that have passed.
Those gifts hold a sentimental value,
more than just a $ value.
Today I am going to show you a few items that

Informal and elegant table setting

This is another table setting that is both informal and elegant.
I am usually both (or I like to think so...).
I started by using some place mats that I made  using dropcloth and the matching coaster that I also made (see here for diy coaster project).

I used my everyday plates, I have two complete sets in two different colors, so I layered it to give it a little dimension.

(In case you wonder, I don't iron dropcloth...I like it this way)

For the centerpiece I used things I already have.
Twine bottle project here

In case you didn't notice...I like neutral and earthy colors...
Simple and elegant works for me.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

***Disclaimer: I always take pictures before I add the children's plates and cups***

Everyday dining

I enjoy eating...good food.
I also enjoy having guest for dinner, because that makes me enjoy the food even more!
Tonight we are having a couple from our Church...nothing fancy.
(but I am not even a fancy person
to start with)
So here is how I prepared for them tonight.
You see the wine glass and the short glass.
Obviously the wine glass is for wine, and the short glass is for
