Good morning blogland!
I know I have been "gone" for few weeks, but life has been busy.
Good but busy.
With homeschool and marathon training in full force, life is not slowing down anytime soon.
Today I am going to show you how to change your shower head.
There are many women out there that are very handy, but some of you might find this helpful.
New shower head
Stool or ladder to reach the
shower head
Wrench
Teflon tape
And here the few steps:
First of all, read the instructions
that comes with your new shower head.
Some shower heads need minimal
assembly, mostly a rubber washer
or an extension arm to be attached.
My shower head is mounted to a wall.
It's not necessary to turn off the
water to the house, just have the faucet turned off. lol.
Then unscrew the existing shower head.
If it's an old one
it could be corroded and you will
need to use a wrench to get it off.
Remember lefty loosey, righty
tighty.
This means turn the neck of the shower
head counter-clockwise.
Clean the threads and removed the
"gunk", then apply new Teflon tape.
You need to use enough tape to
wrap around the threads, covering about half of the tape width as you
wrap up the threads. Start at the base and wrap clockwise until
you reach the end of the threads.
Do not wrap counter clockwise or the
tape will unravel when you attach the new shower head.
The tape will seal the connection
between the new shower head and the pipe in the wall, preventing
leaks.
Attach the new shower head by hand
screw clockwise on to the taped threads.
Hand tighten without over
doing it.
Just tight enough without forcing it.
The tighter it is,
the more chance it will leak...yes, it does make sense.
Now step out of the way and turn on the
water to check for leaks.
Recheck the steps if necessary.
Enjoy your new shower head.
I got a rain shower head for $25,
brand new, marked down from the original price $80.
I am loving the rain shower head especially after my long 20+miles training runs.
Stay Frugal,
Daniela
My husband loves his rain shower head. I like mine because it has more pressure. Great little tutorial for someone that has never done that before.
