It has been few weeks since our sunroom construction passed inspection.
A lot has been going on since then, and I am just now finally finishing up the last few thing.
***...I am not done***
So here is what I have accomplished so far.
The loveseat that I recently upgraded with
Here is the new home for the painted rocking chair.
On the brick wall I am using these shelves.
(which are not completely done yet)
I removed the backing on both and started to paint the first one white (before the sunroom was even built).
Actually I wish I had not painted it, because I like how the original color blends in with the brick wall.
But there is no turning back.
So I will have to paint the second one white too.
Although I kind of like the two tones bookshelf with the white and the darker shelves.
On the shelves I wanted to use some of the things that I brought back from Italy on our last trip.
And since I recently lost both my grandmothers, I wanted to keep these shelves to display some items that reminds me of home.
And here is the $$$ breakdown of the items I used for this room.
Most furniture purchased from Craigslist.
American signature Loveseat $50
Dropcloth slip cover for loveseat $15
Wooden shelves $5 each
Rug -free (mother in law)
children's table+chairs -free (aunt)
curtains closeout from K-mart $4 eachx6 (marked down from $16 per panel)
electric fireplace $100
Decor was all pulled from the house and finds from my parents' garage in Southern Italy.
So this room was furnished for about $200 total.
Stay Frugal,
Daniela

Gorgeous, Daniela! So sunny!!
ReplyDeleteI love the windows and the natural brick! Well worth the wait!!!
ReplyDeleteYou rocked it, Daniela. It really turned out so good. I agree with the natural wood against the brick - I find I like that in my sunroom too. I keep it light with furnishing fabrics like you (and the sunlight that comes in all the windows), and keep dark accents with wood & wrought iron.
ReplyDeleteWow! I am so jealous! Your sunroom looks fantastic. I can imagine spending lazy Sunday afternoons in there reading, taking a nap, or just hanging out. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour sunroom looks beautiful Daniela...I know you'll be spending a lot of time out there!
ReplyDeleteDaniela, that is an amazing sunroom! I love the way the sun floods the room and hits that brick wall and the items you have displayed. It must really help cheer a person on a winter day. Beautiful! I'm glad you have some of your grandmothers' things. I wish I had more of mine. Those connections are so important.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful room, love the curtains, I always forget about Kmart.

ReplyDeleteOh it looks so pretty! I love how it turned out. I bet y'all love being out there with all the sunshine. The table and chair set I gave y'all looks good out there. I'm so glad that your kids are enjoying using it. I love how you styled your bookshelves against the brick wall too.
ReplyDeletebeautiful brick wall!!! those shelves would look neat painted black... as another tho't to consider :)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I would love to sit and visit with you and talk about our grandparents together.
ReplyDeleteI too, just finished putting out some of my treasures I received my grandma. I also got my grandma and grandpa's wall clock, it sings to me on the hour. And I think of them each and every hour. :-) I sometimes will hear it and wonder why I am hearing it.
It is good to remember and I am glad I have been blessed with items that I can share with my boys.
That is amazing. I love how bright and sunny your new sun room is. I'd be taking all my pictures in there. Everything looks great.

I love all of these things. Perhaps you could paint the shelves a dark brown...I also prefer the dark next to the brick. this is very cozy and came together beautifully. I really like the drapery fabric.

ReplyDeleteIt's DONE!!!!!
I'm so happy for you and your family!! Your sun room is so beautifully put together!!!
I always tell people that I can furnish a whole house from Craigs List from the Free section. I can't believe what people are just giving away!!! We're very generous here in Vancouver, BC!!!
I think the shelving unit in the two tone look is so great and it incorporates the other shelving until.
Enjoy the rest of the week!!!
Pam

Great cozy room full of memories and love!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to soak up some sun and chase the winter blues away! So lovely. I'm still impressed with that slip cover that you made and I'm intrigued by the electric fireplace in the shelf. Does it throw out much heat or more just for ambiance? I'm glad your room is finally finished enough that you can enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYour new sunroom is beautiful! I love all the treasures from Italy.
ReplyDeleteThat’s really gorgeous, Daniela! Congratulations on passing the inspection, and for keeping in your budget without sacrificing the aesthetics. You really have a rocking sense in stylish frugality. Keep inspiring your readers! Danny at Integrity

ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm so tired after coming home on Tuesday evening late, having written yesterday the transcipt for a video that we produced at the studio of a friend today (who ran the local TV station previously) for a presentation tonight in Jakarta, Indonesia (afternoon for them) for the US Embassy Indonesia and the Disability and Leprosy Movement of Indonesia.
But glad I made it to open your blog as this is so amazing what you've put together. True for the brown color blending in very warmly with the brick wall but what can you do?
LOVE your tile floor too; such a European touch as well.
Your two nonnas will be smilng down from heaven. Noticed that the tree branches are already showing signs of spring. Soon it will look like it always has been like this; all the hard work soon forgotten and many joyful moments to spend here. Love the electric fireplace too; nicely built into your shelves.
Hugs and blessings,
Mariette
What a fantastic space! I really love that brick wall and your slipcovered sofa!

ReplyDeleteYou are going to love this room!! I love all your little decorative touches and think you'll enjoy the shelves once they're both white.
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me say how envious I am that you have a sunroom. 2nd, I love how you used that four-peg board for string! Nice job with the room!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I missed this.
ReplyDeleteFabulous space, really fabulous. I know I would be in there all the time as well. So, is it insulated under the flooring at all as if I recall, there is not actual foundation.
