Adding writing to a slipcover

This post was shared over Tanya's blog TwelveOeight a few weeks back

If you are one of my followers, you know already how much I love dropcloth.
One of the most simple things you can do to add interest to plain dropcloth (or fabric in general) is to add some kind of writing and/or numbers.
Stenciled Covers
Dropcloth Coasters
I have added numbers and writing to several of my projects, and truthfully, the more you do it, the more confident you'll feel to forget the stencils and even

free hand some of your projects.
Kitchen Towels

 Back to todays project,
this bench is located in our Master Bedroom,
at the feet of our bed.

Technically this was a coffee table.
I made a simple slipcover out of dropcloth a while back,

and now I have finally decided what I wanted to write on it.
I choose a simple writing with numbers.

For this project I did use these stencils I found for .10c for the entire stack
For the numbers and letters I drew the outline with sharpies, and then filled it in with acrylic paint.
***You can also just use a sponge brush and acrylic paint***
And here is the end result.

(here is how the Master Bedroom looked like before)
So get some dropcloth, a stencil and let your creativity roll.

Hope you enjoyed this post and don't forget...Frugal Ain't Cheap.

  6. I love painted dropcloth, too! I also love how you used a coffee table for an end of the bed bench! Great repurposing. I have a trunk that I'd love to cover and do the same thing with.

  11. You asked how I bent by forks in my picture holders and I used lineman pliers-they have a wide tip. My needle nose pliers did not do the trick.
