Unused drawers project

You know the feeling when you do a project (my Ikea recycle/trash cart),

and you are left with things that you don't want to throw away
(drawers)?

recycle-trash cart
Well, maybe I am just one of those people...
So here I was left with 3 unused drawers.
I also had eight little plastic

wheels, the one that come with those plastic stackable drawers.
I knew those little wheels would come handy some day.
The drawers were already white,
and all I had to do was to drill four holes on the bottom of each drawer.
Useful tip: start with a drill bit that is small, and gradually change it to a bigger one, and finally use the correct drill bit size for the hole you need.
This will prevent the wood from cracking.
Moving on,
after you are done drilling the holes,
insert the wheels at the bottom
and you are done.

I placed one drawer under each bed
(at the foot of the bed).
The left picture shows you what it looks like once the bed cover is on.

I told the girls that it is their special drawer, and they can put their special things in it.
They think it's super cool.

This project cost me nothing,
and it's a perfect to add hidden storage space.

Stay Frugal,

  1. Good Afternoon Daniela, Now this is a fabulous idea. I would never have thought of putting wheels on drawers to turn them into under the bed storage. It is amazing how you keep coming up with these thrifty ideas.
Your daughters must be thrilled to have their own secret drawers and I should imagine they are being filled with lovely things as we speak.
    Have a lovely day.
    Best Wishes

  3. You are SO clever! I don't think I would've thought of that. I love that idea! The girls are probably loving having their own "treasure" drawer under their bed.

  4. Funny, when I've read the sentence of what to do with the drawers, under-bed storage was the first thing that came to my mind:) You can never have too much storage :)

  8. No, Daniela, you aren't the only one who wouldn't toss out those drawers, or anything else functional. I love the drawers and am looking for some for my place to do something very similar to store things for the grandkids in my apartment.

  10. Dearest Daniela,
You earn big kudos for this solution! How your little girls must love their magical Mama. I am wondering if we still got those wheels that came as a replacement for one of our carry on since they made so much noise at the airports. This would work perfect for using them in a very clever way.
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette
