Facts: Wood box, $1, endless possibilities...
This is what I came home with a couple of weeks ago...RN asked me why I bought "this"!
Well, let me tell you.
I saw this with my eyes
and I saw this with my mind
Fair enough.
Now here is what I did...
Clean and scrub the box. Inside and outside!
I was going to sand it down...but I cannot find the sander. Asked RN where he put it...even if he never used it. EVER. But he knows where it goes...and so should I. (that's what he told me! as he laughs uncontrollably).
Long story short, I end up sanding it down a little with a sanding block, then the high hiding primer came to the rescue!
That's the way to go!
A little tip for you. Between coats, put your handy dandy paint brush in a ziplock and store it in your fridge until you are ready to use it for the next coat. It will save you time to clean the brush. (don't do this if you are using oil paint)
Then it was time to get carbon copy paper and transfer this "Coffee and tea" label.
Then on with paint and "artist" brush
And the finished work
Add tea stash
Now, I am going to relax and sip on some ICED tea! (I wish!)
Until my next project...
Stay Frugal,
Daniela

Oooh, you're a tea drinker too! This is a great makeover project. Love the tea label. Fantastic. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great makeover project! I love how it turned out. I love typography anyway. You made it look so easy. I will have to remember that carbon paper trick. I do that paint brush trick all the time, btw. I forgot where I learned it, but it has saved me on several occasions!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what an ugly little box can become with the right eyes and imagination. It's perfect.

Very cool! I love how you had carbon paper handy!
ReplyDeleteI would have had a hard time seeing past the giant cherries! You've got a great eye and I love how your new tea box turned out.

Really cute. Definitely a good find. So useful. You can never have enough creative storage solutions, at least in my mind. Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I am the person who would see that box in a thrift store and think I could do something really cool with it, but then not be able to think of anything to actually do.:)
ReplyDeleteThat's cute. Tell him to just let you do what you do without questions!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing with my paint brushes! Love how you did those letters. Thanks for linking up to the Gettin' Krafty party!
ReplyDeleteSo how did you transfer the letters? Wondering if you have a special technique. So cute!
ReplyDeleteCame over from Shabby Creek. From terribly ugly to terrifically cute! (and practical too!)
