Wood Box

Facts: Wood box, $1, endless possibilities...

This is what I came home with a couple of weeks ago...RN asked me why I bought "this"!
Well, let me tell you.
I saw this with my eyes
and I saw this with my mind

Fair enough.
Now here is what I did...
Clean and scrub the box. Inside and outside!
I was going to sand it down...but I cannot find the sander. Asked RN where he put it...even if he never used it. EVER. But he knows where it goes...and so should I. (that's what he told me! as he laughs uncontrollably).
Long story short, I end up sanding it down a little with a sanding block, then the high hiding primer came to the rescue!

 That's the way to go!
A little tip for you. Between coats, put your handy dandy paint brush in a ziplock and store it in your fridge until you are ready to use it for the next coat. It will save you time to clean the brush. (don't do this if you are using oil paint)
Then it was time to get carbon copy paper and transfer this "Coffee and tea" label.

Then on with paint and "artist" brush

And the finished work
Add tea stash
Now, I am going to relax and sip on some ICED tea! (I wish!)
Until my next project...

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

  2. What a great makeover project! I love how it turned out. I love typography anyway. You made it look so easy. I will have to remember that carbon paper trick. I do that paint brush trick all the time, btw. I forgot where I learned it, but it has saved me on several occasions!

  7. So cute. I am the person who would see that box in a thrift store and think I could do something really cool with it, but then not be able to think of anything to actually do.:)
