Rocking chair reupholstered

I have to admit that I just can't get rid of this rocking chair! In a good way!
This used to be my in laws a long time ago...maybe 25 or so years ago.

My husband "inherited" the complete set (couch, love seat and rocking chair), and when we got married we decided to keep it.
I slip covered the couches and I re-covered this chair with fabric I bought in Nigeria nine years ago. $5 have gone a looooong way.
before
after
I really like this chair, but the children kept climbing on it and hurting themselves.
So it went down to our Master Basement
for a while.
there she is on the right
I kept wanting to bring it back in our living room...it just fits there and I like sitting on it.
So there it went again.
This time I put the chair in a different spot, so it would be less likely that someone (aka, my dad) would get hurt by tripping over it! (EVERY time he comes...ciao papa')
I have used the same fabric for other smaller projects here and there in the living room

...and even made a skirt out of it!
My almost 4yr old just asked me why I was wearing a pillow!!!
I guess I am making a fashion statement here. Don't worry, I don't wear this in public...only if I go to our "not so nice" Walmart (which is not very often).

Stay Frugal,
(and stay away from the "not so nice" Walmart...)

  1. Not sure why that fabric is not good for a skirt. I think it's adorable! Wear it in public all you want...

  2. I'd say you've really gotten good use out of that fabric! I think your skirt is cute. And....what's wrong with Walmart? I shop there all the time for our groceries. We have a nice one and I save alot of money by shopping there.
