This dresser to buffet makeover that I am sharing today, is one of my favorite.
I like how it turned out,
and it was a FREE dresser that I got to play with.
My inspiration was this box.
Don't you have an inspiration box?
This buffet is going to stay in our rec room converted garage,
so I wanted this to have wheels for easily roll it out the door when needed.
I started by removing the
drawers from the center,
and by taking the back out
(that's where the small fridge is going to go).
Next I needed to add the wheels,
by adding some wood from my collection to attach them.
I painted the entire furniture with my homemade chalk paint.
I had bought 1 quart of paint at the Restore for $1.
(I used 1/3 of the can)
It's called "whiskers" and it's a light grey.
After the paint was dry, I got my liquid nails out.
If you never used liquid nails, you are truly missing out.
I love this stuff.
I attached the top pallets wood
(that I had previously cut to size and arrange to my liking).
Always lay them out first before attaching them.
Once they are glued, there is no turning back.
Again with liquid nails,
I attached trim (aka furring strip) right under the new pallet "counter".
I also attached pallet wood trim at the bottom.
Just because.
Finishing touches:
the hardware and the small curtain.
I am actually thinking about changing the curtain to a simple dropcloth one.
The burlap Italian potato sack seem to be too much texture against the pallet wood.
And here is a before and after
Total cost:
Pallets - free
paint - $1
wheels - $12
pulls $6
Honestly, you could really transform a piece of furniture with just pallet's wood and paint.
Easy and very, very inexpensive.
Stay Frugal,
You have such talent, this turned out great. Love the transformation. fondly ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteWow, you did it again and those wheels, especially in the garage or rec area like yours, are such a convenience! Learned that from you...
This will make a very handy buffet!
Sending you hugs for a happy Sunday.
