3 Outdoor Projects

If you haven't seen much of my post lately...well, that's because I am not able to blog much.
And if I haven't been around visiting your blog, is that my brain usually shuts down pretty much right after the children go to bed.
You see, life with three young children is VERY busy,
and with school back in session, our family life is even more busy.
(Welcome to Homeschool Life)

That said,
I have been able to work on few outdoor projects this Summer.
Or should I say "started" to work?

Here are the 3 projects that I have started, but not quite finished.

Staining the deck(s)
this picture was taken after the first coat only
Most of the upper deck is done.
Few spots  that I cannot reach unless I climb on a ladder,
which I don't feel safe in doing it by myself.
Lower floating deck...I have not started to stain/paint yet.
It seems that on the weekends it's either raining or 100° sunny.

Next is the firepit area.

sneak peak
I am using pavers that about 7 years ago we bought to make a pathway from the driveway to the sidewalk.
(I recently redid the pathway...I guess that's project #4...and it's actually done)
I also found some free rocks off Craigslist, that I am using for the area where the firepit will sit on, and free decorative rocks from a discard pile of a local company.
I will share the entire frugal project soo.
I promise.

And lastly,
we are replacing the reed/bamboo fence we installed 7 years ago over the existing chain link fence.
(it goes all around the sides and back)

This is a great way to improve the look and privacy of your yard.
The cost is minimal, compared to having to replace the entire fence.
We are almost done...still, the weather is not cooperating and time available is minimal.

Pictures, details and cost breakdown of these outdoor project coming soon.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

  1. Dearest Daniela,
Of course you cannot always find the time to blog and I too have had such evenings where your eyes barely can stay open... We all want to do a lot more but there are limits! Don't you worry about it and you can feel mighty proud for having accomplished what you did.
Can't believe myself how far into the year we have come... Time goes too fast; way too fast.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  2. I completely understand how busy you must be with a large family and homeschooling. We have been experiencing delays with getting our front porch painted too because of the weather. Now, that Fall is near, maybe we can both get more done.

  3. Didn't know you were a homeschooler! I homeschool my 10 year old son, while his older sisters go to Catholic school. I can't imagine teaching three! Since we started back at school I have been going non-stop. I only have time right now because he's doing some math review and I get a short break! Don't worry about the projects, they'll get done. I am interested in the firepit you're doing as I want my husband to build us one, too. Have a nice weekend.

  5. Dani, you're amazing is what you are, and you have every right to be tired, every night. I bet you're asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow!

And don't forget, besides these amazing projects, you're also a marathon runner! Taking care of yourself through this great exercise/stress relief is, I'm sure, a major contributor to your overall success. Kudos!

  8. You are one busy woman for sure! Looking forward to the posts about these projects...especially the fencing one. I right there with you on the weather...our trenches for the french drains around our patio have filled with water and washed out 3 times. Can't seem to catch a break long enough for it all to dry out.

  11. I'm loving that firepit...I keep telling Philly I want one. If he doesn't put one together for me, I'll just do it myself. Or you can come do it in your spare time. ;)
