Mashed potato is one of the easiest food to prepare.
That said, the ingredients you use are very important.
First, you have to start out using the right potato.
This time I used
butter gold potatoes.
(most times I use Russet variety)
Because the butter gold potato has a very thin skin, you can leave the skin on, making the preparation even easierand faster.
Just wash the potatoes,
cut in small cubes and add to a pot with cold water
(water should be covering all the potatoes).
Add a couple of garlic cloves + a little bit of salt to the cold water and bring all to a boil (with a lid on).
Turn the heat down to medium/low and cook for about 20 minutes.
Drain the water and mash in the same pot, potatoes and garlic.
Add a couple of Tablespoon of butter, a little milk (whole or cream), enough to make the potatoes soft but not runny.
Add it a little bit at the time,
I used a few Tablespoons.
(this will vary according to what kind of potatoes you are using).
Add a handful of Parmesan cheese and adjust the salt.
(I don't use much salt, and the addition of the cheese and garlic gives it a nice flavor without having to add much salt at all).
And this is how we make mashed potato.

I love homemade mashed potatoes. That's the only way I eat them too. Jimmy makes ours. He makes the best! I've tried and can't seem to get it as smooth as him. I guess I'm not strong enough. LOL! Yours looks good. You use some ingredients that we haven't tried before too.

And just a side note - why are there so many different potatoes now - when I was younger the groceries stores sold one type of potato - you could mash it - roast it - make french fries - scalloped - or just boiled - all from the same type of potato LOL !
