Inexpensive Slipcover

A few weeks back, 

we purchased an American Signature loveseat for our sunroom.

(a $50 purchase off Craigslist)

Because of the color scheme in the sunroom (brown family), it really pulled the "green" out of the original fabric.

So I decided to make a slipcover for it.

In my fabric stash, I had a 9x12 white canvas dropcloth, that I purchased back in the Summer for $15.

I was going to use it for a different project, but the fabric was too heavy and stiff, so it sat unused until last week.

I am not an expert when it come to slipcovers, so with my basic sewing skills, 

I decided to give it a try.

I had no problem in making the 

back and seat cushions covers...

but then I got creative when it came to sew the rest of the cover.

Basically I sew the cover by hand, making it a perfect fit for this loveseat.

I used these upholstery needles, which I found at our local Walmart.

The cover in not sew on the existing fabric,

just over it, making it a washable option.

I did wash the dropcloth to start with, to pre-shrink it, which is aways a good idea any time you work with fabric.

I did this in sections, but it took me a total of maybe 5-6 hours.

Turned out pretty good, 

(considering my sewing skills)

This is definitely the most inexpensive way to make a nice washable slipcover.

It is now officially moved to the sunroom.
