Homemade Brownies (SO easy)

I have tried a few of homemade brownie recipes, and finally I came up with this one of my own.
I always lower (half) the amount of sugar in my dessert recipes, and replace any white flour with whole wheat.
I also made this recipe easy to remember.
It's all about 1/2.
So,

healthy and easy.

Ingredients:
butter ½ cup (one stick)
sugar ½ cup
2 eggs
1 t of vanilla extract
cocoa powder (½ cup)
wheat flour (½ cup)
1 t baking powder

Preheat your oven to 350° degrees.

Melt the butter.
Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Slowly with a sifter add the cocoa, then wheat flour and baking powder.
Grease/oil your pan and
bake the brownies for 25-30 minutes.

This tastes so good,
and I feel great about this brownie being low in sodium, sugar and using whole wheat.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela

  1. I think you're going to out live us all because you are so health conscious! I wish I was as disciplined as you. I've never made homemade brownies. I'm a "mix" person. Shame on me....right? LOL! I like how you made substitutions to your recipe and made them healthier. Less guilt for sure.

  3. Dearest Daniela,
You made me smile with your sentence of cutting the sugar down in half... It is amazing how MUCH sugar most American recipes call for, compared with our European ones. I do the very same as you do, always using whole wheat. For me the whole wheat pastry flour from Wholefoods is excellent and gives the best results.
Hugs to you and happy 3rd week of Advent.

  4. I am so excited for this recipe. I love my sweets, but I also like something that's a little more subtle, that doesn't make you feel bad for eating it. Can't wait to give these a try!

  7. HI. I'm Andi, and I'm a Brownie-holic. And I love stuff from scratch instead of the box. :)
