On a recent flea market shopping trip, I found this Industrial light that I wanted to use as a pendant kitchen lighting.
Because our kitchen is small, this light just didn't look right in that space.
I went with this other option instead.
Egg Basket light |
Our living room has no overhead light,
so lamps are the only alternative...
in this case a hanging lamp.
The light switch turns the outlet on and off, so when I turn the lightswitch on, it turns on all the lights plugged in that outlet.
I had to remove all the original electrical parts, then I used a pendant light kit with a 12' cord.
I had to be creative in how to make this work.
I added the old chain (found at my parents farm) to hang this from the ceiling.
Most of the cord (minus 1' out of 12') is hidden.
It works, it's safe and it's plugged right into the outlet.
The light/cord was about $6.
Stay Frugal,
Oh I just love it!!! I love those kind of pendant lights and yours looks good in your living room like that. That was a great way to use it. It looks great with the map you have in there too.
ReplyDeleteI love it - but wow I'm crazy about the kitchen one Dani !!!

Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteYou thought it out really clever for also using that old chain! Now you got a complete pendant lamp that one cannot even find in any store like this! Smart for connecting the lamp straight to the outlet and safe too.
Enjoy your new addition and timely for the shorter daylight!
Hugs,
Mariette
It turned out great! I have two pendant lights over our kitchen island that I want to change up a bit. Thanks for the good ideas, Daniela!

Dani that is really cool! Now I'm sitting here looking at my kitchen ceiling where I intentionally had an outlet installed up high..and then never used it! Think I gotta try this! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love pendant lighting and vintage pendant lighting is even better!

ReplyDeleteWe are having electrical issues with our dining room light. If we have to replace the light fixture, this is exactly what I have in mind.
