It was hidden under other stuff, in a pile.
It had not been used in a VERY long time and was just in a "junk" pile.
She said this belong to my grandfather (her dad) and was used in their home.
I was very excited to bring this with me, it's a reminder of my grandfather that passed away almost seven years ago.
I have wonderful memories of him.
Bringing the past back to life.
Stay Frugal,
I wouldn't have hesitated to say yes either! What a nice piece to also remember your grandfather by!

Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely heirloom of your Grandfather, so much meaning!
He will be smiling down from heaven for sure! That was heavy for bringing home but so worth it.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
That's really neat!!! What will you use it for?
ReplyDeleteThe pieces that we are drawn to that come with a story or connection to someone we loved are the best ones to have and treasure. How much nicer to have chosen this rather than to have inherited something you didn't really want or need.
ReplyDeleteNice scale. Didn't know you had that packed.
ReplyDeleteExactly what you do best...bringing the past back to life :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found it before it went to wherever Italian junk goes! It's meant to be with you.

What a cool scale! Even cooler that it reminds you of your grandfather and that it works!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to bring this home and make it useful once again and revive memories of your grandfather when you use it. It's very cool!

Oh, this is such a gorgeous scale! I love the rustic look but most importantly the sentimental value. Like they say, "One man's junk is another man's treasure." In this case, another woman's treasure. Glad your mom gave this to you. :-)
