It doesn't happen everyday to be invited over for dinner in a nice Italian villa out in the country...unless you live in Italy.
We (Italians) call them
The owner, Carlo, retired after a life spent working for the Italian train company, and he is one of the nicest man ever.
So here is a tour of his house.
Starting from the outside.
Starting from the outside.
I love shutters that actually serve their purpose.
As soon as you walk inside, this is what you see.
Off the entry you find this beautiful living room.
This beautiful armoire is found in the dining room.
I thought I had taken a full view of the entire dining room...but I must have had a brain fart at that time.
Glad that I did captured more details of this room.
And here a few lighting samples in the house.
Love the big statement of the wooden candelier in the dining room.
More pictures of silver items and collectibles.
And if you wonder what we had for dinner,
we started with a tipical antipasto,
raw ham and cantaloupe.
Followed by a pasta dish with duck meat and red sauce.
Then salad with cold cuts, bread and a bottle of red wine.
I didn't take pictures of the food (that night)...as my husband would say...taking pictures of food is very American.
Stay Frugal,
Daniela

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful and beautiful Danila!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely home! I really wish you would've taken a picture of the food. Hey, you may be Italian, but you're now half American too! LOL! So, tell hubby that your blogger side is very American. Love the cute car parked outside the home too.
ReplyDeleteI am betting the food was even more spectacular than the decor and home. WOW, how cool. So neat that little car too.
ReplyDeleteTrue loveliness. I have always thought it would be awesome to go to Italy. Along with France and England and Australia :) I'd love to be a world traveler someday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it that everything is not "perfect" and that a dented teapot is still precious and beautiful. I love old and new together. It's exactly as I would hope, Dani.

Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteYou almost make me homesick for the lovely culture in Italy... Yes, one can indulge with the eye the many ancient treasures that reside inside those villas. Often maintained for generations in excellent shape. It does tell a story, many life's stories in fact.
No, I do seldom take pictures at the table, certainly not when being a guest!
Glad you enjoyed it both.
Hugs,
Mariette
I like the spinning wheel! I haven't seen one like that. Thanks for sharing, I'm glad you're back safe.

ReplyDeleteHow fun to see the fixtures and furniture and design within an Italian country home. Just gorgeous! Love seeing the Fiat too. We had two convertible Fiats when I was in high school. Great post. Thanks for sharing with us!
