Wood crate

When I am working on a bigger projects, I always try to include a few smaller ones in...that's because I am a "get it done" kind of person, but with bigger projects (and smaller children) sometime that's just not possible.
So today I did this.
I had this basic wood crate that needed a basic makeover.
Just a plain pine crate from Michael's. 
(I think)...

For this project I gave whitewashing a try, 
which basically means you dilute the paint with water and make it a little "see through".
Then transferred a writing from "The Graphic Fairy" that I printed on regular paper.
I used carbon copy paper and traced the letters.
Nothing fancy.
This took less than 5 minutes and costs me pennies.
At first I was afraid of the whitewash technique, but I like to live on the edge try new things.
The nice thing about whitewashing is that you can always give it a second coat if the first one  did not cover enough.
I had this crate for years!
And now sits on our fridge holding all kinds of teas.

    The crate turned out very nice! I have several of them that need makeovers, one day I might get around to doing something with them. Love the graphic that you picked out.

    That looks great!! We have some antique crates from farmer's markets or food sellers with original labels! We also have one for which hubs got an unused label to put on. I await the repaired crate (minor crack) to mod podge.

    Super cute Dani! I tried white washing recently, and loved it, I will have to try transfer paper sometime. It is always good to give something old new life!

    Don't know how I missed this Dani - but if it only took you 5 minutes to trace all that - I guess it would only take you 20 seconds if you win the transfer gel LOL

    Nice project, Daniela! Who would have thought that this unused crate could be a useful stuff, right? I’ve seen different creations out of crate materials like a coffee table, wine crate and plant beds. Anything you can do with packaging boxes?
