When I am working on a bigger projects, I always try to include a few smaller ones in...that's because I am a "get it done" kind of person, but with bigger projects (and smaller children) sometime that's just not possible.
So today I did this.
I had this basic wood crate that needed a basic makeover.

I had this basic wood crate that needed a basic makeover.
Just a plain pine crate from Michael's.
(I think)...
For this project I gave whitewashing a try,
which basically means you dilute the paint with water and make it a little "see through".
Then transferred a writing from "The Graphic Fairy" that I printed on regular paper.
I used carbon copy paper and traced the letters.
At first I was afraid of the whitewash technique, but I like to live on the edge try new things.
The nice thing about whitewashing is that you can always give it a second coat if the first one did not cover enough.
I had this crate for years!
And now sits on our fridge holding all kinds of teas.

Daniela,
ReplyDeleteThe crate turned out very nice! I have several of them that need makeovers, one day I might get around to doing something with them. Love the graphic that you picked out.
Visiting you from Met Monday~Come by for a visit any time.
Super cute! You took a boring crate and make it look custom and cool.
ReplyDeleteSo easy and pretty. I can even do this.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!! We have some antique crates from farmer's markets or food sellers with original labels! We also have one for which hubs got an unused label to put on. I await the repaired crate (minor crack) to mod podge.

Cute cute cute! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLooks nice. I agree about the need for small projects, I need to focus on some small projects too, my big project is overwhelming at the moment!
ReplyDeleteYou should be a graphic artist or a sign artist! If you did that in less than 5 minutes, that's amazing!

Super cute Dani! I tried white washing recently, and loved it, I will have to try transfer paper sometime. It is always good to give something old new life!
ReplyDeleteDaniela, your project turned out beautiful! You always do such a great job with the graphics. By the way, I am hosting a new Link party today on my blog. I am very excited and scared at the same time. LOL
ReplyDeletePlease, stop by. I need all the support I can get! :)Enjoy the rest of your week!
Really cute, Daniela! Those graphics and the whitewash totally changed it!
ReplyDeleteDon't know how I missed this Dani - but if it only took you 5 minutes to trace all that - I guess it would only take you 20 seconds if you win the transfer gel LOL
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - like everything you do - just gorgeous!
Came by from Coastal Charm - congrats on the feature! ( you earned it )

ReplyDeleteNice project, Daniela! Who would have thought that this unused crate could be a useful stuff, right? I’ve seen different creations out of crate materials like a coffee table, wine crate and plant beds. Anything you can do with packaging boxes?
