Family name sign

I know there are a bunch of you out there that love a good cup of coffee!
I am one of those people that would drink coffee anytime...as long as I am in good company.
I call myself a "social coffee drinker"
I have had this sign hung in my kitchen for a a year or so, but although I liked the sign, it just looked out of place.
So this is my makeover.
Two coats of HIGH hiding primer.
Carbon copy paper.

 Brush and paint.

Distress (love how it shows some of
the previous colors)

Hang it and done!

Another easy change and no cost project.

Stay Frugal,

  1. Your sign turned out great, Daniela. That is what I am working on today too, but a Christmas sign.

  7. That turned out so cute. It's a good idea to recycle something like that into something you like better.

  8. Did you just go for it or hem and haw with a lot of back and forth on the decision to paint over it? I would have a hard time deciding to paint over something. It does help if you really don't like it, but if you have an attachment to a piece, even if you don't love it, it can be hard to just go for it. Bravo on taking something that wasn't working and making it so perfectly personal!

  9. I love the after sign. You did a great job. I can't believe how well you can free hand paint, especially letters. And, I love where you hung the family name plate sign as well. Great job.

  12. I also have some similar decor signs that I had saved to makeover someday...thanks for reminding me! I love cheap DIY wall art!

P.S. Can you tell me how to change my setting so you can reply to email? I fixed that once a long time ago so I'm not sure why it doesn't work and I don't remember how to do it. Thanks!

  13. Very cool idea. Instead of getting rid of stuff you don't like anymore just redo it into something you DO like!

  15. I LOVE the smell of coffee but just can't drink it. We have a friend who works at Starbucks and she keeps my husband in coffee. He never has to buy it. This week she brought me green tip tea bags. It's a big treat for us to have this.

I love your re-do project. I'll be giving all my wall plaques a lookover to see which one would work the best.

  16. Great idea! Your sign looks awesome. I used carbon paper on a fabric sign last year....it's very "old school" isn't it? :) I have several canvas art pieces I'd like to give another life to, hmmmmm.....
