This could totally be the new Country song hit!
I have fallen in love with chicken wire, because it adds a farm-metal charm to any room.
For my first project with chicken wire, I am making a crate/umbrella sticks holder.
picture from the inside |
I built a wood frame out of
old wood, and used a piece of
leftover wood (from our basement remodel) for the base.

I left the wood as is, because I really like how it looks. But I might end up painting the bottom piece.
Love the final product!
Cost of project less than $2
4ft of chicken wire $1.76
scrap wood free
It took me several hours to make this crate (cutting the wood, put the frame together and especially adding the chicken wire)...but oh so worthy!

I love it! It's so rustic and charming and best of all unique! It's nice that you were able to make it using materials you already had on hand.
ReplyDeleteYou're so brave! Just unrolling the stiff chicken wire would feel intimidating to me, great idea.

ReplyDeleteSuper cute girly! What a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! You have just saved me a fortune! I've been wanting something rustic looking to put on my new deck to put throw cushions in when people don't want them on the loungers. It needs to be something that won't be ruined in the rain as I live in the UK, so I was thinking metal basket, olive bucket, etc, but as I'm sure you know these things ain't cheap, and we've pretty well blown the budget with the cost of the deck and other necessities. However ......... I have a roll of chicken wire in the shed, and loads of old scrap wood, so guess what I'll be working on tomorrow. Thanks SO much for the idea, it's PERFECT!
