Reusing old wood

First, I have been away for a few days with some awesome girls/ladies from my Church...and I totally and completely unplugged from internet land.
Second...this is what I am making, and look at what I am making it with...
See?
It was left outside for maybe 4 years.
I found it as I was working on our mulched area in the front of our house.

What excite me most is that I am actually working on a project that involves aging wood (my vinegar steel wool stain for aging wood)
...but this wood, next to the aged wood wonna be, looks 10000 times better.

So, since the aging vinegar stain was not exactly what I expected to be (more to come on that), I am now turning to
this aged wood to use in my project.
After I cut the wood to the size I needed, you can see what the original color looked like
(I mean, it's pine).
See the difference?
I don't know if you can tell how excited I am about this wood, but in case you can't tell...
I am EXCITED!!
This is just a sneak peak of the unfinished project.
Now I just have to store all our wood scraps outside...so I can use them in a few years :)
I will show you the finished project asap.

Stay Frugal,

  10. I have a bunch of wood sitting outside and it's been power-aging in the sun and rain. It was wood I actually wanted not to stay nice and clean for something, but I didn't get to it in time. Too bad I can't send it your way, then you'd have even more to work with. I am very curious as to what you are making but I have no clue. I'll be waiting for the unveiling!
