Oh yes,
I finished my first full marathon.
26.2miles = 42Km
Let me tell you the inside story:
I
hit the wall between mile 19-21 and curled up on the side of the road
and cryed, in pain, cramping.
Several times.
Could barely walk.
Then
I got back up, put water on my face and licked my face off (yes, I
sweat salt).
Found some small bags of ice on the side of the road (thank
you Jesus!),
picked it up and iced my legs.
So at mile 21 I pretended I
was just going on a 5 mile run.
My legs started to move again,
I
looked down at the line on the road and followed that to the finish
line.
Rock on!
Still finished in 4hours and 32min
I did it.
I am now recovering, eating, drinking water and icing my legs for the rest of the day.
(and I got sunburned...wonderful memories)
Daniela
Congratulations, Dani! I'm very proud of you & your accomplishment. Few have done it, including myself, and it's worth tooting your own horn for having completed it! Rest well, my friend.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Dani! Lots of hard work but you did it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!! I'm so happy that you did it and are alive to talk about it. LOL! It sounds grueling. I couldn't run one mile, let alone 26! I'm proud of you for making a commitment and sticking to it. That says a lot about your character. Hope you're getting some TLC from your family and feeling better now. Sleep in tomorrow if you can. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteYAY you go girl!! CONGRATS!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Yay! Yay! OMG I'm almost crying for you!!!!! Scratch that...I AM crying for you!!! Isn't it the most incredible feeling???? I'm so happy and excited for you...CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy your accomplishment and your inability to walk down stairs for the next few days, my friend!!

Dearest Daniela,
ReplyDeleteSo PROUD FOR YOU!
You really did it and you survived, now you can relax and start enjoying life at a different pace without excruciating cramps. Guess you got dehydrated too and that makes you cramp.
Hoping that you managed to raise some money for St. Jude as well. That after all was your goal...
A killer hug to you and chill out SUPER WOMAN!
Mariette
Congratulations! I'm sure finding your motivation for the last few miles felt good but looking back in sure it feels even better knowing you reached your goal and raised money for a good cause. Now get some needed rest.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! I'm so proud of you. In spite of the challenges, you rose to them and overcame. To God be the glory! Beaming with joy for you. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Dani! Congrats to you♥
ReplyDeleteOh Dani! Way to go!! I'm so happy for you and yeah...you've become too tough to kill! LOL! You are such an inspiration and I'm proud of you for finishing and achieving your goal! Nicely done and for such a good cause!

Congrats!! That is so awesome! Way to go for jumping back in and finishing strong! You are awesome and should be very proud! I am happy for you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I have so much admiration for your strength.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a really great time and I'm so proud of you. My boys ran in marathons and I ran in races, too...but never a marathon. What a wonderful accomplishment. I remember my sons would get massages after the race. It's hard on your body. Take care of yourself! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your hitting your goals too! Proud of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing accomplishment!! you did great. It would have taken me twice as long as it took you to finish. You rock! You deserve a day off. Get some aloe (the kind that's in a squirt bottle works especially well) and take it easy.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome, Dani! I was a runner when I was a YOUNG woman, but never did 26 miles. What an accomplishment! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteJeanette

You go, girl !
I did the cancer walk a few years back - walked 65 kilometers in 2 days - so I get the legs cramping but what a rewarding experience - so proud of you !!!
