Shutters

When we redid our master bathroom, we ended up taking down the half shutters on the window.
We liked it better without it, so there they went to collect dust in our garage...
...until I tripped over it (a year later)
and decided to do something with it!
First I cleaned it really good.
Then I found two different

spots in our home to park put the shutters
My brain never sleeps...I think it's true!
One is in our bedroom .
And one is in our living room.
Makes for an unique piece...and hide the cd tower behind it.
I had envisioned to paint it, but then I decided to keep the wood as is.

$0 cost for my project
***this is how my work area looks so far...I have to say the desk only has the drawers painted...and those are not even done...yet***
(here clock project and
chicken wire frames )

Stay Frugal,

Such a great use for those left-over shutters! I love the look of shutters in a house. They have become very popular to decorate with (and not just on windows). Your desk area is looking good!

Dearest Daniela,
Almost wanted to say that I'm glad you tripped over them. This is a great way for preserving them and putting to practical use.
Hugs,
Mariette

For some reason it wouldn't take my comment before. Anyway- I said great use and job and that it was worth holding onto them for a year! xo Diana

Love the look of your work area. I am always happy to be able to reuse items. We replaced some closet doors and I used the old panels to make a screen for my own project room.
Thanks so much for checking to see if I fixed my email problem.

I love those kinds of shutters. I have some on my kitchen windows, and my neighbor had a chippy pair in a pile in his yard that I have gracing the bar space between dining room and kitchen. They do make a sweet accent. Good idea using them to hide something too!

I'm glad you left them as is. They look great against your white wall. I have some old door shutters taking up space in my garage right now. I picked them up at a yard sale and still haven't found a home for them yet. Thanks for the inspiration.

Looks great!! I think you are smart to leave them "as is"...shutters can be a "bear" to paint ;)

You continue to amaze me. I love the partition you created to hide the cds. I've always loved those kind of dividers. Fortunately, I found a 3-section picture frame one at the garbage dump. Just missing the glass. Let's see what you inspire me to do. :-)

I also love to find old window blinds and shutters for my DIY projects. It looks really good as a decor in your house. I personally love it as well for my own house because it adds privacy and useful during the hot season.
